Mass demonstration on Utkal Divas (April 1st, 2010) planned
Anti-POSCO struggle Update (5th March 2010):
Bewildered and frustrated with the flip flop of government and POSCO Company on promises made to them on compensation and other issues, some of the pro-POSCO people in the area have started gradually flowing to the anti–POSCO camp.
The peaceful demonstration (Dharna) held at Balitutha by people from Dhinkia and adjoining Panchayats in Jagatsingpur district opposing the proposed POSCO steel plant project entered into 34th day on 3rd March 2010. K P Sashi, the documentary film maker, Sister Selin from Pune and Prasant Paikray, Spokes person, PPSS joined the Samabesh and expressed solidarity to the democratic people’s struggle. Continuously about 200 male and 200 female are sitting in Dharana on rotation basis. The people criticised the government for going ahead with the project ignoring the opposition of the people in the area. Some pro-POSCO people are reportedly quietly joining the Dharana.
It has been decided by Posco Pratirodh Sangram Samiti (PPSP) to hold mass solidarity group meeting in the Dharana place on the occasion of Utkal Divas (April 1st, 2010) where the mass movements and mass organisations from Odisha along with the solidarity groups from across the country will gather and demand the withdrawal for POSCO steel plant project.
